Government Medical Staff, arrived from Paris on the 23rd June with a supply of plague serum prepared partly by himself and partly by Professor Roux of the Paris Laboratory, the effect of which when hypodermically injected he was desirous of testing as a cure for the plague. There being at that time no cases at the Kennedy Town Hospital suitable for his experiment, he proceeded to Canton and thence to Amoy, at which places he applied his preparation in about thirty cases.
The results would appear to be comparable with those obtained from the antidiphtheritic serum and to afford reasonable grounds for hoping that, if applied sufficiently early, it will prove an effective remedy for this disease. Many experiments will however be necessary before the preparation can be pronounced an unqualified ...
